Privacy Policy

Effective June 11, 2026

You Need a Nap is built around a simple idea: your sleep is none of my business. This page explains what little data exists, where it lives, and what happens to it — for both the Apple Watch app and this website.

The app

Heart rate and motion. To detect when you fall asleep, the app reads your heart rate and wrist movement through an Apple HealthKit workout session, entirely on your watch. This data is processed on-device and is never transmitted anywhere. There is no server to send it to.

What gets stored. Each nap is logged to Apple Health as a short “Mind & Body” workout, and your sleep-detection moment is kept on the device so you can see it in Sleep Analysis. You can delete any entry from the Health app at any time. Your Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties.

No accounts, no tracking. The app has no account system, no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and makes no network requests with your personal data.

Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple. I receive anonymized transaction receipts and never see your name, address, or payment details. Apple’s own privacy policy applies to App Store transactions.

Diagnostics. If you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your device settings, Apple may send me anonymized crash reports. That setting is yours to control.

This website

youneedanap.app is hosted on WordPress.com, operated by Automattic. Like most websites, it uses cookies and collects standard server logs and aggregate, anonymized visitor statistics (Jetpack Stats). See Automattic’s privacy policy and cookie policy for details on what they process as the hosting provider.

Contact form. If you write to me through the contact page, your name, email address, and message are emailed to me and stored in the site’s dashboard. I use them only to reply. They are never sold or shared, and I’ll delete them if you ask.

Children

Neither the app nor this site is directed at children under 13, and the app collects no personal data from anyone in any case.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar), you have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since the only personal data I ever hold is what you send through the contact form, exercising those rights is one short message away.

Changes

If anything here changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. No silent edits.

Questions

Ask me anything via the contact form. It’s just me back here.
